About BHCA
Better Health Community Alliance Inc. is a Texas-based nonprofit founded to expand access to essential healthcare for financially vulnerable populations — at home and abroad.
Our Story
BHCA was created to address a simple but persistent reality: many people, both in the Rio Grande Valley and in underserved regions of Africa, cannot access basic medical care because of cost or infrastructure gaps. Our founders — physicians and community leaders — built BHCA to bridge that gap through direct financial assistance and capacity-building partnerships.
A Dual-Division Structure
We operate two complementary programs under one organization. Our domestic program partners with independent physicians to pay for medically necessary care for uninsured patients. Our international program invests in clinical infrastructure, equipment, and workforce across African communities.
Commitment to Independent Physicians
We believe independent physicians are essential to community health. By routing assistance through independent practices, we keep care local, personal, and accountable to patients.
Our Mission
To expand access to essential healthcare services for financially vulnerable populations — through direct financial assistance in the United States and through healthcare capacity building across Africa.
Our Values
Dignity in care
Every patient deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of ability to pay.
Independence of physicians
We support the independent practice of medicine as a pillar of community health.
Accountability and transparency
We steward every dollar carefully and report openly on our work.
Global health equity
We recognize healthcare as a human need that crosses borders.
